Hostel Facility

COER offers comprehensive hostel facilities within the COER campus. We appreciate that most of our students are moving away from home for the first time, so we strive to make the transition as smooth as possible by offering comfortable and safe hostels within the campus. COER offers separate hostel facilities for boys and girls with hostel warden in each hostel to supervise day to day management. Each mess providing hygienic and nutritious three meals a day, as a part of the hostel fee, with a varied menu that caters to a range of taste buds. All the rooms have been designed to provide adequate moving space and ample air and light.

For the students, faculty and employees who commute from various cities, COER has its own dedicated fleet of buses to and fro the University. The services are made available at a very nominal fee.

The COER Cafeteria excels in multi-cuisine menu providing a comfortable and vibrant ambience for all. In addition, canteens & kiosks providing meals, refreshments, fruits & snacks are conveniently located close to all academic blocks.

TheCOER campus has an in-house multi facility clinic, providing 24 hrs medical facilities to students and staff. Clinic is run and managed under the guidance of qualified and experienced doctors and is backed by a modern diagnostic centre also. COER Campus also has a dedicated staff and fully equipped ambulance to facilitate swift medical service in case of any emergency.

Having concept of compulsory evening activities and healthy participation of the students in it, the departments of sports is having a health center (Gymnasium) which is well equipped with latest exercising machines, the music system and furnished room which provide a good ambience during exercising workout.  The gymnasium is regularly used both by girls and boys at a regular schedule time in the morning and evening.

It is widely known that games have physical benefits.  But in addition to this games have a psychological dimension also.  They help in social adjustment of the player COER understands the physiological, psychological and social benefits of games hence friendly fixtures are regularly arranged and played between IIT Roorkee, local colleges and clubs.

On Campus Bookshop

The focus is to expose the COERians of different stream about different career opportunities available to the fresh engineers. Apart from regular bulletins, announcements on opportunities and articles that come up on the notice boards, there is a special lecture series called "ICE - AGE – The Opportunities" 'I' for information and Internet, 'C' for Computer and Communication and 'E' for Education and entertainment. Leaders generally give these lectures from different fields that can provide authentic information and be inspiring role models to youngsters.

Nowadays all banks are providing loan facility to the students. The COER provides guidance/ assistance to its students to avail educational loans. Students can avail loan from any bank. However, the student can avail loans from the 2 fully functional on campus bank branches namely Punjab National Bank & AXIS Bank providing convenient banking services including educational loans. The requirements for availing the loan facility will be as per the requirements and the norms of the respective banks. The COER will provide the requisite offer letter or alike document as required by the concerned bank for loan purposes, as and if deem appropriate. However, the students and their parents/guardian will be personally responsible for obtaining sanction and repayment of sanctioned loan and all kind of liabilities and consequences arising thereof, if any. The COER will not be liable and responsible in this regard.

The COER library has got all what it takes to be a top notch. The library is provided with a large number of books on different subjects covering from recommended text books to other reference books, a large number of journals both national and international including more than 350 on-line journals for B.Tech. d MBA. Completely computerized, it has more than what a student expects. Right from issuing and returning of books and materials, from bar code reader facilities to comprehensive search of books, the library has got it all. There is also a reference section for the ease of students along with fruitful book schemes for students. The library is open till midnight.

Library building also houses a cyber café having 130 terminals for internet search providing free access to students in the library building itself.

COER constitutes one of the handful of private college which can boast of state-of-the-art computing resources and networked structures across the campus. COER believes in leveraging technology to the fullest and endeavours to retain its position as one of the best IT enabled Colleges .

COER computing resources include 4 servers, 500+ work stations & COER clients are a mix of the latest Core 2 Duo, Dual Core & Quad Core computers mainly from players like HP,ACER, and HCL. On the server side, COER data centre has powerful blade servers that take the performance to the highest level when it comes to high end computing.

To support such a huge network, COER has invested in an ultra highspeed Fibre Optic Backbone across the campus. A very high end and powerful Cisco Catalyst 6509E Core Switch with redundancy has been installed at the core layer, which makes the campus network ready for heavy video and voice traffic also.

Internet facilities are provided throughout the campus through 5Mbps leased lines from Wi-Fi,multiple service providers and a strong firewall is being used to control the access to websites, thus, making the campus network not only reliable, but also secure from any intrusion attack.

The sports department of College of Engineering Roorkee (COER) provides the students – the COERians and staff a forum of recreation and maintaining healthy habits.  The games and sports contribute a lot in the development of the personality of an individual. Keeping this point in mind College of Engineering Roorkee, organized a State Level Volley Ball Tournament to commemorate the sweet memories of Late Seth Roshan Lal Jain Ji and Late Smt. Tarawati Jain Ji at COER Campus from February 05 – 08, 2009

The Volley Ball teams were invited from various academic and non-academic organizations of Uttarakhand.  More than 20 teams from different corners of the state enrolled themselves for the tournament.  Final match was played between Udham Singh Nagar Police team and Rishikesh team with full valour in which Udham Singh Nagar Police team was victorious Shri. J.C.Jain, Chairman of COER and Mrs. Sunita Jain, Chairperson honored the players by giving them trophies and cash awards of Rs 12,000/- to the winning team, Udham Singh Nagar Police team and Rs 7,200/- to the runner up team.  For the development of sports – culture, tournaments and competitions are organized under “Sports Vaganza” every year. The main events of the Vaganza are: Inter Departmental Tournament and Inter year Tournament. COER regularly participates in the tournaments and friendly matches organized in and around Roorkee.

The next most visited spot is STUDENT CENTRE.  The Student Center is the focal point of COER, with multiple facets in terms of its various hobbies clubs as - Electronics Club, Music Club, Photography Club, Health Club, Communication Skills Lab and Quick Bite.  Adjacent to the Academic Block, where 'COERians' are busy with their notes, lectures and practicals Student Centre revitalizes them with its soothing environment.  The fountain, standing before the entrance of 'Quick Bite', denotes the affirmation in the heart of COERians towards studies where as the gurgling of water stands for the spontaneity of life.
