COER has ever aimed on furthering student excellence. It is in this  context  that this department .has been created at
COER functionally under the direct supervision of Director General COER)

The SGD (Student Growth & Development ) deptt. will  be responsible for tracking student excellence in all streams with  A GUIDED FOCUS on Pre final and Final year students (Engg,MBA,MCA).The group will look in to various facets of student development which would churn out a brand of COERIAN to challenge any Competitive selection process. The turnout here will reinforce the Selection Score card of the placement group.

The group will also design time based surveys of continuous nature both for faculty and students for required interventions which would be given by this group (Need based).It will also undertake special studies from time to time as desired by the top COER Management.

The SGD will also steer and support the ongoing “Teacher- Mentor “ process & shall also train the teachers in Mentoring and Coaching. The SGD , a new addition in COER for student betterment  is being headed by Shri  A. K.  Upadhyaya  who till joining COER has been Heading the HRD function at BHEL Haridwar.

FACULTY PROFILE (Er. A.K. UPADHYAYA), HEAD STUDENT GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

Er. Anil Kumar Upadhyaya is a Graduate Electrical Engineer with further specialization in Management , Behavioural processes & HRM. Trained extensively in various HRD & Technical programmes  including Personal Growth Labs (Sensitivity training) under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Indira J  Parikh & Prof. Pulin  K Garg ofIIM , Ahmedabad thru ISISD Labs.

Prior to his joining COER ,Roorkee , Shri A.K. Upadhyaya was heading the BHEL Haridwar  HRD Deptt. He has served BHEL Haridwar in various capacities for 37 yrs in Engineering & HRD functions. His HRD tenure was for 21 yrs where he remained as Head for a period of 12 Yrs . .He has  been an architect of HRD System design & implementation at BHEL Haridwar for ISO 9000 and HSE systems. He has also been a member in various Corp BHEL HRD task forces.

While in BHEL he has been trained in more than 75 training programmes covering advanced faculty training programmes including PG labs (ISISD) .He has also been exposed to  German & Russian languages training for Engineers at BHEL Haridwar.

He has also been an  Ex Officio Director of BHEL Bal Bhawan for a period of 4 yrs. He  has published numerous  papers in National & International Seminars / Conferences in Technical  ,Management & core HRD areas. Has been an active faculty in the areas of General  Management , HRD  &  Behavioural  processes. He also specializes in Training System design .HRD research  & training technology. Has designed & executed numerous  HRD related surveys. A versatile speaker, in addition has immense interest in Creative writing & other fine art faculties. Has won numerous awards in various competitions and has been on the panel of judges in various programmes & other Educational Institutions. He is an Ex, Rotarian Secretary of Rotary Club of Ranipur and also a member of AIMA & Institution of Engineers.

At COER he is heading the SGD (Student growth and development group).
