COER Placement Committee: Consists of two faculty coordinators and two student coordinators from each course, headed by Training & Placement Head.

Special care is taken to provide the requisite skills to the student to enable them to pursue their career goals. As an effort in this direction Personality Development Programmes are undertaken which include organizing of regular tests of English Language, Technical Topics, Aptitude, Reasoning and Logic. Debates, Presentation, Group Discussion, HR and Technical Mock Interviews are part of the Personality Development Programmes. The students are enrolled for PDP right from the first semester to develop their Soft and Technical Skills.

COER conducts Entrepreneurship and Awareness Programmes for COERians in collaboration with various government bodies like EDI (Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India), NSIC (The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd.), KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) and DIC (District Industries Centre).

Hundreds of COERians have been selected in leading companies like Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, Satyam, Dubai based United Technologies & Trading Company, L&T Ltd., L&T Infotech, Perot Systems, HCL Infosystems, etc. through the On Campus and Off Campus Interviews. In addition COERians have also joined several other companies including Cummins (I) Ltd., Convergys, Birlasoft, Crompton Greaves, Reliance Money, Torry Harris, IndiaMart InterMesh Ltd., I – Flex, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Star Paper Mills Ltd., Vodafone (I) Ltd., I – Gate, Fiserv Ltd., Sapient, Rave Technologies, IDBI Bank Ltd., Karvy Stock Broking Ltd., Univan Ship Management Co. Seminars, Workshops, Symposia and conferences are a regular feature of the institution. Such programmes of interaction with academicians, opinion leaders, decision makers and senior professionals from the industry, provide the students with a wider horizon. In addition to this, visiting faculties from renowned business concerns are also invited to share their experience and knowledge with students.
COER is thankful to renowned industrial dignitaries like Mr. Srinivas Baba Varanasi (CSC Noida - Head Training), Mr. Sudheer Mishra (Infosys -North India recruiting head), Mrs. Aparna Shailen (GENPACT – Vice President HR), Mr. Alok Agrawal (Polar Industries Noida –Executive Director), Mr. Athawale (Everest Industries – Vice President), Dr. K.K. Singh (Escorts Faridabad – Chief HR), Mr. Shreya Kumar (Texas A&M Univ. USA) and many more, who delivered the lecture to COERians on various industrial topics.

As a step towards grooming students into perfect professionals and to make them compatible with the IT industry, campus connect programme is run by our T&P department which is conducted by Infosys. Under this programme, Infosys has designed and provided 100 hours module, for teaching which, the faculty at College of Engineering Roorkee has been especially trained by the firm. This module is taught to top 100 students of third year as an extra course on weekends.
In addition to this, Infosys has also provided us a range of projects that the students take up as a part of their final year projects. These steps not only help Infosys to reduce their in house training time but also help the students in acquiring technical skills which make them more suitable for IT industry.

COER has signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with reputed industries like HCL Infosystems Ltd., Noida, CSC (I) Ltd., Noida during 2008 – 2009 for continuous training & placement for the COER students. MoU’s with some other reputed industries is in process.

The primary objective of the industrial training is to gain a sound appreciation and understanding of the theoretical principles. COERians undergo industrial training during summer vacations and after training period, the students are required to submit a report. A large number of COERians have undergone training in companies/organizations like Thermal Power Stations, BHEL, BARC, HCL Technologies, L&T, ONGC, J K Tyre, CMC Ltd., HP, Asahi India Glass Ltd., Siemens and several others.

The institute organizes industrial visits for the students to familiarize and keep them in constant touch with the actual practices followed in the organizations. The students are required to submit a detailed report of their visits. Our students has visited Infosys Ltd. Chandigarh, BHEL, Haridwar, ASAHI Glass (I) Ltd., Jhabreda, Hero Honda (I) Ltd., Haridwar, Everest Industries Ltd., Bhagwanpur, STAR Paper Mills Ltd., Saharanpur, Cello Houseware, SIDCUL, Haridwar, etc.
